At Kinderland we are a professional, caring and enthusiastic childminder service providing flexible, affordable, high quality home-based childcare.
We offer bilingual childcare with me as native german speaker and internships all over the year from Germany who speak, sing and play in german with the children.
In todays digital age, when children are often more turned into their screens that the great outdoor, its more important than ever to encourage children to get outside and in touch with nature. Kinderland provides daily outdoor play by any weather (our motto "There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes"). Research recognise the physical, emotional and developmental benfits for children to spend time outdoors. Children thrive in nature, and crucially, outdoor play and activties develop their most important skills: creativity and imagination. Since Summer 2016 we established our forest day once a week in Morden Hall Park where we spend the whole day in nature.
another of our aim is to support and help children to become confident and independet individuals. Therefore we encourage children to try things out and teach them ways and methods to become more and more independent.
I have implemented risk assessments for each of the rooms and garden in my setting, and on all equipment and materials used. This ensures I provide a healthy and safe home-based environment. We have a good range of toys (mostly wodden) We blelieve with fewer toys children develop longer attention spans for the same reason. There aren't 10, 20 or more toys waiting on sidelines to distract them, so they focus on one thing longer. We have no screen time at all and focus more on creative activties, messyplay, cooking and gardening.
My garden is fully enclosed and outside play is enjoyed daily in all weathers as I said above. We have a mud kitchen where we create delious mud pies and soup. We also have a trampoline and outdoor toys and activties. There is a quiet room for younger children with a cot for nap time, and quieter activities are encouraged at different periods during the day for older children.
I am a registered Ofsted childminder with over 12 years experience in childcare. I am a member of PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years), and hold public liability insurance through them. I gained my Nusery Teacher Diploma (NVQ Level 4 in childcare) in Hamburg Germany in 2010 and have worked with children ever since. This includes being a Head of room and deputy manager in day nurseries.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework planning for each child’s individual learning and development needs.
I am located a short walk away from the Morden underground station and currently provide wrap around care. I appreciate all families requirements vary so offer term time only contracts as well as full time contracts, school holiday cover is also available. I utilise the areas and facilities around my home. Trips include walks to the surrounding parks, visits to the library and play opportunities at our local surestart centres.
I am registered with the ICO (information commissioner's office) which controls the personal data which I use and how long children's records/photographs are held on my computer and camera etc. This is essential for the protection of each child in my care, and I take this very seriously.
I promote healthy eating and offer a wide range of home cooked hot and cold meals. Children are encouraged to think and eat healthily by helping to prepare and participate in cooking some of their own meals and to learn about where our food comes from. The children will be given a healthy balanced diet teaching them sensible eating habits. I will be extremely vigilant on how I prepare, store, and handle food. A weekly menu is displayed in the kitchen, and any allergies or dietary requirements will be discussed with the parents before their child starts. We sit to eat together in age appropriate seating, and the varying needs of the children are respected. Fresh water is readily available for the children to drink. Handwashing and good hygiene is promoted and I will be a good role model. Good manners are encouraged, such as please and thankyou.
I will discuss all of your child's needs and requirements prior to them starting at my setting. I always welcome new families into my home, at your convenience, so please contact me if you would like to visit. If you chose to use my services, settling in sessons will be provided to ensure the best transision period for you and your child. It is important that we establish a positive, honest and open working relationship and share information effectively. We will work as partners so your child gets the best possible care ensuring we meet all of their individual needs. This will enable us to have a trusting relationship which helps a child feel safe and secure, and also provides continuity of care.
